In the west, furniture makers use hand planes, in Japan, they use Kanna. Rather than cast iron the bodies are made from a variety of hardwoods giving the user an opportunity to make planes for specific tasks.
Each one of these clock faces has been planed by hand with a Koyama Shi-Ho-Sori or Japanese Compass plane. The blade and the body are curved, giving a subtle but delightful texture. You won’t always see it, but watch the light catch the face and you may just get a glimpse, from time to time.
Available in natural oak with black hands, or fumed oak with brass hands.
